Beach-Front Hotel

The three story hotel has 21 rooms, all facing the pool and the main bay. All are bright and airy, with a balcony for a better view. You can use the air conditioning to keep you cool, or go natural and let the breeze through (and use the ceiling fans for extra breeze!). The rooms have either a king size bed or two double beds and some also come with a kitchenette. Some of the rooms are also inter-connecting and all have air conditioning, ceiling fans, and mini refrigerators.

Lolha Snack bar now has wireless internet access at no charge for customers. All bungalows and Ocean front rooms have high speed internet connection and telephones. Please inquire on check in for rates.

 

Bungalows

 

When staying in the bungalows, the feeling is one of comfort and charm. These were the first accommodations available in Akumal, and have since been remodeled and upgraded, of course, but the charm of the bungalow style hotel room is still there, and few hotels today build their rooms with such spaciousness and as separate units. Instead, they build up, and squeeze as many units in as little land as possible.

The bungalows are situated among the lush gardens of the property, with only 8 bungalows to a quadrangle, or in the adjacent section, the rooms are four to a section. They are just steps away from the beach, and although they do not have a view of the ocean, they make up for it in charm, privacy, and convenience. You just walk a few minutes and you are in the center of the property where the food service areas are. Many people prefer staying in the bungalows instead of the ocean front rooms! The choice is there though, and we have what you are looking for.

Surrounded by lush gardens for those who do not like the feel of a high rise hotel, this is the ideal room for you. Each bungalow has either one king size bed or two double beds, air conditioning, ceiling fan, mini refrigerator, and best of all, no one below you or on top of your room to disrupt your privacy. The rooms are spacious, and can be rented as single, double, or triple occupancy rooms.

The Cannon House Suite

Cannon House is truly a house and has the feel of a second home for everyone returning to it. The large terrace has a view of both the open ocean and the bay. It has one bedroom with a king size bed and a huge closet, and another with two twin beds; both with their own bathrooms. For your convenience there is a  fully equipped kitchen available anytime. There is also a daybed in the front room for kids. There is a TV with DVD player, CD player and a BBQ, Gloria, the maid is a real treat! She will make sure you never have to wash a dirty dish while staying in Cannon House! The garden is kept immaculate by Andres, the gardener, the people next door are the owners and you can always chat with them about Akumal, which has been their home for the last 15 years.

The Cannon House Studio

Akumal Villa Taj Kumal

Taj-kumal is a beautiful villa on Akumal Bay……… the ONLY villa on the prettiest beach in Paradise…… 4,000 square feet in a Moroccan Mediterranean style with huge rooms, Moorish arched windows throughout and “Arabian Nights” décor. This villa has to be seen to be believed – a true fantasy that’s come to life! The entry into this walled estate is lined with huge palms. There is a two car covered garage with the manager / owner's quarters detached from the villa. Next to these quarters is the detached 4th bedroom with private bath. This is a perfect place to keep the teenagers!!

When you arrive you’ll walk up a sweeping curved stairway and enter through huge carved doors with stained glass windows on either side. You will immediately notice the incredible 30-foot cathedral ceiling, carved stone walls, Greek floors with Bali rugs, indirect lighting, domed brick ceiling in the dining room and unbelievable sweeping view of Akumal Bay.

The kitchen is immense, has a domed brick ceiling, is fully equipped and has a breakfast table – it even has a wet bar that passes through to the living room! There’s a great powder room and the living room couches are decked out in tiger print fabric with lots of cushions.

Every room in Taj-kumal has a beautiful view of the ocean. There are two large air-conditioned guest bedrooms downstairs with high ceilings, walk in closets, king-size beds and huge bathrooms. One of these bedrooms has a completely separate entrance, for extra privacy! You reach the immense and very dramatic master bedroom upstairs by ascending a spiral wooden staircase. The first thing you’ll see is the canopied teak king-size bed in front of a carved stone wall. It has a wraparound covered balcony where you will want to spend many hours reading and enjoying the constant breeze off of Akumal Bay. The bathroom is actually three rooms: one for the toilet and bidet, one for the two basin main room and another for the double head shower stall. The décor is unique and beautiful with gorgeous tile work.

Taj-kumal is on an incredible beach and has a gorgeous “lagoon style” swimming pool with a Pagoda pool house on the beach side of the villa. There’s a pass-through from the kitchen for outdoor entertaining and the entire roof of the villa is an observatory for looking at the stars or watching the spectacular sunrises over Akumal Bay. The villa was designed to enjoy the constant ocean breeze so it has no air conditioning in the living area, but the ceilings are so high and there are so many windows that it stays very, very cool.
