Located along one of the most peaceful and relaxing beaches found in all of Mexico, Casa Sandra offers more than just a beautiful place to stay on the Island of Holbox, Mexico. 

The atmosphere is one of casual luxury with well appointed rooms and attention to detail.  Beautiful original pieces of art are found throughout the property, many of which were created by Sandra herself.  Each room is its own romantic escape.  There are no two rooms alike and each is decorated to compliment the surrouding areas...they too are works of art.

More About Sandra and the Vision...

One of Sandra’s aspirations as an author was to be able to write by the sea. Her dream place had to be isolated, serene and she wanted the sea to provide ever-changing shades of blue, from turquoise to deep indigo. One memorable day, she landed in Cancun and her attraction to the land of the Mayans was immediate and overwhelming! Little did she know that her dream place was right there on an island where the Mayans have lived from time immemorial...Holbox Island.  Nothing she had ever seen was more delightful than how nature effortlessly played with colors, the charm of the people who lived there, the barefoot fisherman with sparking smiles, and the women weaving rainbow “hamacas” while wearing high heels stoutly implanted in the sand.

Mesmerized she thought “ I must do something here!” Slowly a project started to germinate and  take root. Today, on the beach, facing the sea with ever-changing shades of blue, this project has become a reality she calls “A Hotel with a Human Sensitivity."

This new concept could be called revolutionary if it were not also so friendly. It consists of twelve rooms, all facing the sea. The architecture concept is bucolic yet luxurious.  Here, our guest’s privacy and complete satisfaction are our top priority and consequently answered with zeal.

We pride ourselves in the way we have designed the environment for our guests through every detail, from our art gallery filled with paintings to the beautifully designed and crafted furniture in each room.

We enhance the senses through emotions, poetic sensitivities, the rainbow of “hamacas” swinging in the breeze, the rich scent of fresh coffee, the sea visible from every angle, and enchanting dinners by candlelight.  Like color strokes on a canvas, this place becomes magical.  It becomes “The Space for your Dreams.”

The Restaurant

Gourmet dining set against a backdrop of white sand and turquoise blues.  Experience the freshest seafood available on an island famous for fishing.  All of the dishes are prepared by expert Chef Felix..."The Happy Cuban".  Many say that the guests of his restauarant should be called the "happy ones", because no one leaves hungry or dissapointed with the tantalizing flavors that are produced in his kitchen.

From traditional Mexican favorites to classic continental, Chef Felix will always add his special touch of Cuban flavors that will compliment any dish and are a delight to the pallet.  Making something special that you'll remember is our specialty!

Amenities
In your room, you will find different natural products made exclusively for Casa Sandra, as well as a directory with all the activities and detailed services of the hotel.

Snack Bar
Our bar service is available from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM. This service is popular on the beach area, where you can enjoy all kinds of natural juices, liquors, and exotic cocktails with fresh ingredients while you tan yourself or look to the marvelous sunsets that only Holbox can offer.

Lunch Restaurant and Gourmet Restaurant
From 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM we offer fresh lunches with a Caribbean touch.  We offer salads made with local Mayan ingredients, refreshing “ceviches” (lemon marinated fish or sea food), and other Cuban delights.  Our guests can enjoy their meals either in our beautiful restaurant or on the beach.

Gourmet Restaurant
From 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM you can find a numerous exquisite local plates merged with international cuisine, but always infused with a Cuban flavor. The dishes are enhanced with the best and freshest ingredients of the area, and presented according to the simple, sophisticated and romantic atmosphere surrounding our restaurant.
A special menu is available for people any request, such as vegetarians or those with special diets due to allergies. Our Chef “The happy Cuban” (Félix) will be pleased to satisfy your needs, just let us know.

Safe
For your comfort and protection of your valuables, the reception has a safe. Any object you wish to keep in the safe can be brought to the reception at any time.
Important: The hotel is not responsible for any losses or damages.

Check out
In order to minimize delays, we suggest that you ask for your bill during the afternoon prior to your departure or the morning of your departure day.  Any additional charges accrued at the hotel can be paid at the receoption desk.
Check out time is 12:30 PM.
If you need safekeeping for your luggage until your departure, contact our front desk and we will be happy to hold on to it for you.

Flight Confirmation
At the reception we can confirm your flight the day before to your departure.  Please contact us with any special requests.

Post service
There is not a post office on Holbox island yet.

Electricity
All of the rooms have standard outlets with 110V, equivalent to the US. For European systems, a converter is necessary. Please contact the front desk if you need one.

Doctor
If you need medical assistance, please contact the front desk to be transferred to the medical center on the island.

Fax
To send and receive faxes, there is an additional charge. If you receive a fax, it will be delivered immediately to your room. If you need to send a fax, bring it to the front desk and we will deliver the original and the confirmation to your room.

Departure taxes
All Cancun Airport taxes are included in your rate; you do not need to pay any extra.

Laundry
For laundry service, please use the bag provided in your closet. Fill out the request form, and leave it and the laundry bag in sight of the housekeeping service. Your laundry will returned in no more than 12 hours. Please do not send delicate clothes.
An ironing service is also available at an additional charge if requested on the laundry form.

Medicines
At the reception and the restaurant there is always a first aid kit available. If you need a prescription medication, the reception will assist you in contacting the pharmacy.

Cash and Money exchange
Peso are the official Mexican currency.  US dollars are also accepted at almost any location as well as by taxis.  If you need to exchange money or traveler's checks, please ask at the reception. Remember, in Mexico all transactions paid with a credit card must be paid in Mexican pesos by law.  The conversion from Pesos to US dollars will be shown on your credit card statement.

Payments
Any services arranged through the hotel, restaurant, or any tour made through Casa Sandra can be paid with Pesos, US dollars, Euros, or credit cards (Visa or MasterCard).  For payments made by credit care, there is a 5% fee added to the total amount.
Important: On Holbox there are no banks or ATM machines and only a few places that accept credit cards. It is recommended that you be prepared with enough cash for your trip needs on Holbox.

Lost objects
Please ask the reception if you have lost something.

Beach
The north beach is one of our biggest treasures where you can enjoy the most beautiful and colorful sunsets. We provide towels, palapas, and laying chairs. No reservation request is required for any of these amenities.  Feel free to use any that are available.  The beach towels are located in your room closet and there is an extra charge for lost towels.

Tips
Tips are included in the meal price and are equivalent to 10% of the total amount of your bill.
Tips left in the rooms go directly to the housekeeping staff.
Tips left at the restaurant table are divided between the waiter and the cook on duty.
Tips given in hand are for that person specifically.
Tips given at the reception are divided between all hotel personnel if there is no other specification.

Transportation
Transportation service is available upon request. This service includes pick up at  the Cancun Airport (or any other place in Cancun), car transfer to Chiquila, boat transfer to Holbox, and taxi service to Casa Sandra. This service is not included in the room rate.
