Cancun and the areas "beyond" are full of attractions for you to visit during your Mexican holiday.  From beaches to ruins to open air markets to celebrations, enjoy your stay amidst the 200 plus days of annual sunshine and an average temperature of 80 degrees F. 

Here is a list of attractions for your visit.  Check back often as the list continues to grow.

BEACHES/ISLANDS

Isla Contoy
Located 25 miles north of Cancun, visit this island haven for birds and marine life. 

Isla Mujeres (The Island of Women)
Surrounded by calm waters, this island 6 miles from Cancun is famous for its beaches, including Playa de los Cocos and Playa Lancheros.  Snorkel, scuba dive, or just relax on this beach.  Catch a ferry at Punta Sam, Puerto Juarez, Playa Linda Terminal, Playa Tortugas, or the Club Nautico Dock.  While on the island, hail a taxi or bus, or rent a bicycle or moped for transportation.



GOLF

Tee it up in Cancun and Beyond.  For the golf enthusiasts out there, here are some courses worth visiting:

  • El Camaleo Mayakoba-Play the course the pros play.  This course was host to the 2007 PGA Mayakoba Golf Classic.

  • Hilton Park Golf Club (9 881-8016)-This Robert Trent Jones golf course is located at the Hilton Cancun Beach and Golf Resort.  You will play amidst a historical ruin, Ruinas Del Ray.

  • Melia Cancun Golf Club (011 52-98-85-1114)-This short par 54 course is ideal.  It is located at the Melia Hotel.

  • Moon Spa and Golf Club-Don't let the breathtaking scenery fool you as this Jack Nicklaus designed course is challenging.

  • Playacar Spa and Golf Club-Designed by Robert Von Hagge, the fairways and greens are in pristine condition.

  • Pok Ta Pok Club de Golf (011 52-98-83-1230)-Another fabulous Robert Trent Jones golf course, visit this challenging par 73 course.

 



FISHING

Fishing is amazing off the Mayan Reef in the Caribbean. Go deep sea fishing or stay in the flats for fly fishing. You will see the most amazing fish in these waters. You can charter fishing tours as well in Tulum.


SNORKEL AND DIVE

With azure waters and full of marine life, Cancun and "beyond" is the ideal place to scuba-dive and/or snorkel.  This area is hailed as one of the most popular diving destinations in the world and for good reason.  If you have never swam with the fishes or witnessed the magnificence of a coral reef, here is your chance.  The Mayan Barrier Reef is second in size to the Great Barrier Reef.  Cozumel is a hidden gem for scuba divers.


HORSEBACK RIDING

Saddle up and ride through the jungle of Quintana Roo.  Your horse and guided tour will take you through tropical flora and fauna, around lakes, and across white sandy beaches.


BULLFIGHTS

Plaza de Toros
Every Wednesday at 3:30, join the crowds to watch the bull fights.  The Plaza de Toros bullring is located at the north end of Boulevard Kukulkan.

MUSEUMS

La Destileria
How much do you know about tequila?  Visit this museum-restaurant at 5:00pm on Mondays and Wednesdays for a guided tour which will teach you all you ever wanted to know about tequila.

Museo de Antropologia e Historia
Visit the Museum of Anthropology and History.

Actun Chen
1 hour from Cancun
Walk through the Actun Chen cave, a natural wonder filled with stalactites and stalagmites.  Outside the cave, venture through the tropical forest and you may catch a glimpse of wildlife.

Chichen Itza
One of the most photographed ruins, visit Chichen Itza, with the Kulkulkan pyramid at its focal point.  These ruins date back to 600 AD.

Ruinas del Ray
A possible royal burial ground, visit this archaeological wonder.

Tulum
Another popular set of ruins, Tulum is the only major ruin in Mexico near the water.  Do not forget your camera as you will want to photograph this breathtaking sight with serene waters as its back drop.

Xcaret
Highlighted by a Dolphinarium, Xcaret is a definite must visit wonder.

Xel-Ha
Visit Xel-Ha and you can claim that you have visited the largest natural aquarium in the world.

Filled with restaurants and shops including Outback Steakhouse and Planet Hollywood.

Forum by the Sea
International shopping and restaurants including the Hard Rock Cafe

Plaza Kukulcan
The largest shopping mall in Cancun, it has over 300 stores, movie theaters, restaurants, and a bowling alley.

Plaza La Fiesta
A market with crafts, jewelry, and souvenirs.
